Disruptive Packaging, inventor of URTHCOR®, a reusable and sustainable packaging solution, is excited to announce a major milestone in its mission to enhance service capabilities across North America. The company has officially opened its new state-of-the-art manufacturing and recycling facility in Mexicali, Mexico.

The grand opening on February 18, 2026, brought together local government officials, customers, and supply chain partners to celebrate this exciting step forward. The new facility underscores Disruptive Packaging’s ongoing commitment to delivering innovative, sustainable packaging solutions for the fresh produce, seafood, meat, and poultry industries throughout North America.
A State-of-the-Art Facility Committed to Expertise and Quality
Purpose-built to meet growing demand, the Mexicali facility features two fully operational production lines designed to support robust, tariff-free supply chains across the USA, Mexico, and Canada. Strategically located for near-border production capacity, the site enhances delivery speed, reduces logistics costs, and provides greater flexibility for customers—ensuring the company can respond swiftly to evolving market needs.

Key Capabilities:
Manufacturing Equipment – Two complete production lines featuring bespoke extruders, corrugators, die cutters, laminators, and specialty and straight-line gluing machines—among the largest in North America.
Patented Design and Technology – Including URTHCOR® boxes, corner angle technology, and pallet systems.
Capacity and Volume – Currently producing up to 20 million boxes, with expansion plans underway.
Facility Size – Occupying 80,000 sq ft, with room to grow.
Closed-Loop Circularity – Fully recyclable boxes integrated into Disruptive Packaging’s reverse logistics and reprocessing ecosystem.
Environmental Impact – Material produces 70% less CO₂ than conventional waxed cardboard and expanded polystyrene (EPS).
To ensure world-class operations from day one, Disruptive Packaging has assembled a dedicated highly skilled senior management team and technical specialists based in Mexicali. Supported by the Global Production Manager and International Technical Manager, this team brings deep industry knowledge and hands-on expertise to guarantee exceptional quality and service—key pillars for partners in the fresh produce, seafood, meat and poultry industries.
Sustainability at the core
Across the protein, fresh produce, and seafood sectors, demand is rising for alternatives to traditional packaging materials such as waxed cardboard and EPS—which are often single-use, not closed-loop, susceptible to damage, bulky and heavy to freight, and produce higher lifecycle emissions.
Since 2017, Disruptive Packaging have set out to revolutionise the packaging industry with URTHCOR®, a material composed of HDPE and calcium carbonate that replaces conventional waxed cardboard and EPS.
